Dulbecco"s Modified Eagle"s Medium (DMEM) isa modification of Basal Medium Eagle (BME),containingfour-fold concentrations of the aminoacids and vitaminsfound in BME, as well asadditonal supplementarycomponents.



The originalformulation of DMEM contained1000 mg/Lofglucose, but has since been raisedin somemodifications to 4500 mg/L, giving theterms"Low Glucose" and "High Glucose".Several othermodifications over the years,in addition tothe alternative glucose levels,have broadenedthe spectrum of cell typessupported by DMEM.
